First Amety Games Blog! Welcome! :D

Hi!! I’m Freddie (they/any pronouns lol) I suppose you could call me jack of all trades - i do Youtube, art, music, activism, game dev, little bit of everything; and I come from tiny Malta (this will come in handy later ;)). To me, making games is the perfect way of combining three of the things I love: gaming, music, and art, and if you do it the right way, activism can be incorporated too. And in case you haven’t somehow noticed, I’m quite the neurospicy bean.

I started this little project, Amety Games, with the idea of having a platform to release my own games independently, with this website serving as a means to game dev blog/journal about whatever I’m up to in my game dev shenanigans, as well as documenting both my games’ journeys (including music and art I would be making for my games), dumping some thoughts and ideas in relation to all this, as well as gathering and sharing tools and resources i use and come across that could help other upcoming game devs and hobbyists. Now I *am* starting game development all from scratch and self taught, so this would also be a nice way of documenting down everything on the way.

Why “Amety”? Why have a name for a project like that and not pull a Hakita? Why what huh? Well that’s something I’ll write about another time :) What I will say is that I do not wish for this to be a entirely-solo project and plan to have some friends along too; quite lucky to already have some solid support from some already xx

I’ve chosen to host my own site via Neocities for a blog simply so that I don’t have to rely on some other third party like Tumblr to host everything (with Neocities I can easily download everything and migrate should I need to), however I have set up a Tumblr blog and a Bluesky that can RSS my website updates onto your feed, as well as having an RSS and talk channels on my Discord server (links in the top menu and down below in this blog!!). Once a solid community grows that becomes too much for my current Discord, I can always expand into a separate discord server for all things Amety. For now the website is quite barebones, though ofcourse I’m updating and improving it as we go along (as well on working on a website for everything else I do). I will pay myself on the back for somehow managing to have all this done in less than a week-

Currently I have 5 concepts for games. I’ll talk about them very briefly and vaguely for now and get more into them as we go along:

• An ethereal sapphic RPG (nymphs and butterflies included)
• Another sapphic RPG heavily based in early 2000s Malta (yes, with accurate culture and history representation by a Maltese, not some American’s fever dream)
• A labyrinth-based semi-horror RPG
• A lost media RPG
• A platformer game with an interesting mechanic
